Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (May 5, 2023) – The Door County Historical Society’s May dinner meeting is all about family! Ann Sheridan, Ed & Sandy Miller, and Laurie Baum will present a program entitled Family Matters: The Duclons, the Davenports, and Sister Lighthouses. You won’t want to miss it!
Laurie Baum will share her research into the family history of Captain William Duclon, Eagle Bluff lighthouse keeper from 1883 to 1918. Captain Duclon lived and served at the lighthouse with his wife, Julia Davenport, and their seven sons in the close quarters of the lighthouse. Laurie has also researched Julia Davenport’s family lineage, which includes lighthouse keepers as well.
Ann Sheridan and Ed Miller interpret Julia and Captain Duclon together for many DCHS events. Along with Sandy Miller, they will share information and never-before-heard stories about Eagle Bluff Lighthouse and it’s sister, the Chambers Island Lighthouse. Ann is on the DCHS Board of Directors and is the Lighthouse Committee Chair. Ed and Sandy Miller are an integral part of the Lighthouse Committee and also serve at the Baileys Harbor Range Lights.
The May 22 dinner and program will be at the Door County Fire Company, 38 S. Third Ave., Sturgeon Bay, on May 22. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:00 p.m. and program to follow.
