Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (March 16, 2022) – The Door County Maritime Museum staff and supporters are beaming with excitement to once again host the Door County Ligthhouse Festivals! The 2022 events mark the 29th annual Spring Lighthouse Fesitval, June 10-12, and Fall weekend, September 30-October 2.
Each festival offers: airplane, land-based, boat, adventure, and self-guided tours that together reach all eleven historic lighthouses of Door County and three to the south! This weekend-long event allows visitors access to lighthouses that are not typically open to the public, including Chambers Island, Kewaunee Pierhead, Plum Island, and Sherwood Point (Fall 2022 only) Lighthouses.
This event annually hosts more than 5,000 people who appreciate these beacons of the past and travel from around the globe to take part in these tours. Visitors engage with knowledgable docents and volunteers, to learn stories of past lightkeepers, their duties and their families.
All proceeds from tour ticket sales support the Door County Maritime Museum & Lighthouse Preservation Society.
