Sister Bay, Wis. (January 26, 2023) – The 14th Annual Door County Short Film Fest (DCSFF) at Northern Sky Gould Theater will have a definite Wisconsin theme this year. Most of the 25 films being shown were filmed or directed by Wisconsin filmmakers. One of those is the 500 Project which was filmed on Washington Island! The film examines the challenging life of an endurance athlete and how she fights to overcome her traumatic past. In it, after setting a cycling record of 441 miles in 36 hours at the Washington Island Ultra, Heidi Videto suffers the tragic loss of her best friend and coach and attempts to accomplish their last shared goal: 500 miles.
Friday evening, a full-length feature film will be screened at 7:00pm. Saturday, 23 short films and 1 full length will be screened from 1:00–7:00 pm. During the intermissions, Chris Opper, Founder and Director of the Film Festival will discuss the production process and movie-making techniques with filmmakers and answer audience questions.
Tickets for an all-weekend pass are $25. Advance tickets are available online northernskytheater.com and at the Northern Sky Theater ticket office Monday through Friday from 10am – 4pm, and on Friday, February 17, an hour before the film at 6:00pm. and on Saturday, February 18, the ticket office will be open at noon.
At the conclusion of the festival, the 2023 Golden Mug Award will be presented to the winning film and the 2023 People’s Choice Mug Award will be presented to the film that receives the most votes from festival attendees.
