On May 22, Door Shakespeare, Baileys Harbor, was awarded a Youth in Theater Mini-Grant through the Door County Community Foundation in the amount of $500. Twelve year-old Beatrix Dramm applied for the grant, with Elyse Edelman, Door Shakespeare’s Camp Will Director, as her youth advisor.
Ms. Edelman, said, “We are so proud of Bea and the work she put into this grant application. She is an absolute star. The whole process took a lot of time, effort, and maturity, including the ability to converse with the board easily about Camp Will.” The grant application required Ms. Dramm to complete a two-part process. First, there was a written application initiated by the student representative with assistance from her youth advisor. Once the written application was accepted, the Door County Community Foundation asked Beatrix to make a speech outlining what Camp Will is all about. Her speech was followed by a question and answer session with the eight-member panel at the Door County Community Foundation, during which Beatrix and Ms. Edelman answered some more questions about Camp Will. Ms. Dramm’s parents were also present and added some helpful perspectives. Beatrix Dramm has been a Camp Will (formerly Doorways) participant since 2016 and will return to Camp Will this coming summer.
