Door-Tran’s Volunteer Driver and Voucher Programs Awarded $20k

September 19, 2024 by Laurel Ciohon

Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (September 19, 2024) – Door-Tran has been awarded $20,000 from the R. Bruce & Alyce S. Kopseker Trust, a fund of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation. Door-Tran recognizes and supports a growing need for transportation, especially for our Northern Door residents. The funds provided will help to support our Volunteer Driver and Half-Priced voucher programs, which have proven effective for years. These programs support the Community Foundation’s mission to inspire and encourage charitable giving in Northeast Wisconsin by connecting caring people with solutions that strengthen the community.

The R. Bruce & Alyce S. Kopseker Trust provides grants to agencies working to assist residents primarily north of Sturgeon Bay and over the age of 60. Established in 1991, the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization that manages 778 funds for donors who are investing in a brighter future for all of us. For more information, please visit the Community Foundation website www.ggbcf.org.

“The grant awarded to Door-Tran allows aging residents the opportunity to live safely in their own home while staying connected to the community,” said volunteer coordinator Kim Gilson. The driving force of Door-Tran’s programs relies on recruitment of new volunteers and maintaining connections with current volunteers. Our non-profit recognizes that success within a community starts with its residents and the connection they share. The Door County community is incredibly fortunate to have residents who are willing to volunteer their time and services to maintain that foundation. The essential need for transportation reinforces why there remains an effort to maintain our current programming.

If you have transportation needs or would like to volunteer, visit the website at www.door-tran.org or call Door-Tran at 920-743-9999. You may also visit staff at 1009 Egg Harbor Road, Sturgeon Bay between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Door-Tran is a non-profit organization located in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin that is dedicated to connecting people to transportation services that are affordable, available, and accessible. They provide volunteer transportation, half-price taxi vouchers, no-interest vehicle purchase and repair loans, referrals, and other services.
