Fish Creek, Wis. (May 27, 2025) — Eagle Bluff Lighthouse is now open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the 2025 season. Located in beautiful Peninsula State Park, the lighthouse offers a unique opportunity for visitors to explore local history while observing an active preservation project.
Guests are invited to take a self-guided tour of the lighthouse, including the restored keeper’s residence and a climb up the tower for sweeping views of Green Bay. The rooms are interpreted to reflect the late 1800s, when lighthouse keepers William and Julia Duclon raised their seven sons in this remote and resilient outpost.
Why Visit Now?
Eagle Bluff Lighthouse offers a rare chance to step inside a living piece of Wisconsin’s maritime history. It’s one of the few historic lighthouses in the Great Lakes region where you can tour the original keeper’s home, climb the tower, and witness preservation work in progress—all in one visit. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a fan of architecture, or simply looking for a meaningful stop during your trip to Peninsula State Park, this is an experience you won’t find anywhere else.
“There’s something powerful about standing in the same rooms where the Duclon family lived and worked over one hundred years ago,” said Amy Frank, Executive Director of the Door County Historical Society. “Visitors aren’t just learning history—they’re stepping into it. And with the restoration underway, they get to see how we’re preserving that story for future generations.”
Restoration in Progress—But Open for Visitors
While construction continues on the barn and summer kitchen outside, the lighthouse itself remains fully open. Restoration contractors are working to ensure that public access is uninterrupted throughout the process. This means guests can explore the historic interior and climb the tower while observing firsthand the reconstruction of two key outbuildings.
The barn, once complete, will serve as a new visitor center, while the summer kitchen will be interpreted alongside the existing winter kitchen to reflect daily life at the lighthouse more than a century ago.
Admission & Access
Admission is $6 per person. Members of the Door County Historical Society, veterans, and active-duty military personnel and their families (as part of the Blue Star Museums program) receive free admission.
