Door County, Wis. (April 21, 2025) – The Door County Historical Society is pleased to announce that Eagle Bluff Lighthouse will reopen for the 2025 season on Friday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m., even as major restoration efforts continue throughout the summer.
Thanks to generous community support, the Society is making significant progress on a $2 million restoration project that includes the reconstruction of the barn and summer kitchen—once essential support buildings for the lighthouse—and interior restoration of the lighthouse itself.
While this work continues, visitors will still be able to enjoy daily guided tours of the lighthouse from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., through mid-October. Admission is $6 per person, with free entry for DCHS members and U.S. military personnel. A state park sticker is required for entry into Peninsula State Park.
“This season offers a rare and exciting opportunity for the public,” said Amy Frank, Executive Director of the Door County Historical Society. “Guests will not only tour the lighthouse—they’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at historic preservation in action.”
Painting and restoration work inside the lighthouse is already underway, and construction crews are actively working on the foundation and framing of the barn and summer kitchen. These new structures not only recreate the entire light station site from the time period of 1883-1918, but will also serve as a visitor center and additional educational space.
Community involvement continues to be critical. Donations are welcome and will directly support the preservation of this treasured piece of Door County’s history.
