STURGEON BAY, Wis. (March 28, 2020) — Georgia Feldman, editor of Sturgeon Bay High School’s literary magazine, The Clipper Collection, has sent out a mass appeal to her fellow students to submit creative writing that addresses all topics and genres, including reactions to the current coronavirus crisis.
“Despite all that has happened in these crazy times,” Feldman said, “we are definitely still planning on putting out The Clipper Collection this year. We strongly feel the creativity of the students and staff at Sturgeon Bay would be the perfect thing to help raise people’s spirits in Door County. However, since school is not in session, we need submissions as soon as students can send them.”
Feldman said the literary magazine staff would love to receive new submissions on any topic that inspires students to write creatively, but they are especially interested in student reactions to the current world health crisis. “If you’re a student writer,” said Feldman, “one possibility would be to think about how the quarantine is affecting you and your family, how your life has changed in just a few short weeks, what you think the future might hold for your community, and other immediate aspects of the crisis. Any of them would be a good jumping-off point for a piece of creative writing, whether it’s a short story, an essay, or a poem.”
The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 10, 2020. In addition to submitted creative writing pieces, please send the submitting writer’s name, grade, phone number and email address, plus the title of submitted work.
Submissions can be emailed directly to George Feldman (email: 20gfeldman@sbsdmail.net). Questions? Feel free to email either George Feldman, Editor, or Nalani Bicoy, Assistant Editor (email: 20nbicoy@sbsdmail.net).
