Ephraim, Wis. (July 3, 2023) – It is with great pleasure that we congratulate G.G. Paschke on being elected Ephraim’s 57th Fyr Bal Chieftain. G.G. has been a member of the Ephraim Historical Foundation since 1967 and continues to be an incredible volunteer and docent.
EHF Executive Director Cody Schreck was at the Ephraim Visitor Center counting chieftain ballots with the rest of the Ephraim Business Council board when the votes were tallied for G.G. At 6:30 PM the Friday before Fyr Bal, Cody called G.G. at home to inform her she had been elected. According to Cody, G.G. was in such disbelief that he could hear her family’s concern in the background until she calmly explained to then that “everything was okay, she was just elected Fyr Bal chieftain.”
The sounds of excitement that came from the Paschke home through the phone were a great reminder of the importance of the chieftain ceremony and of the impact the person receiving the honor has had on our community. We encourage you to swing by the Anderson Store one of these Thursdays or Fridays, not only to get some candy, but more importantly to congratulate our 57th Fyr Bal Chieftain.
