Eric Lewis and the Griffon String Quartet Reunite for “Under the Harvest Moon”

September 5, 2026 by Laurel Ciohon

Door County, Wis. (September 5, 2026) – Midsummer’s Music welcomes Door County favorite and Memphis-based multiinstrumentalist Eric Lewis back to the stage with the Griffon String Quartet for four special performances September 17–20 in Green Bay and Door County. Guest cellist Jessamyn Fry will join the Griffon String Quartet for the concert series.

Titled “Under the Harvest Moon,” the program brings together classical finesse, folk soul, and musical storytelling through selections from the critically acclaimed albums Beneath the Waves and Under the Harvest Moon. Audiences will also be among the first to hear several new arrangements performed live.

Known for his soulful, genre-defying artistry, Lewis blends folk, blues, jazz, bluegrass, and classical influences into a sound uniquely his own. His long-standing musical connection with the Griffon String Quartet has created a collaboration filled with warmth, energy, and heartfelt expression.

The Griffon String Quartet will perform selections from the Danish String Quartet’s Last Leaf album. The quartet will also perform “Alla Mazurka,” the third movement from Alexander Glazunov’s String Quartet No. 3 in G Major, Op. 26. Additional selections from Eric Lewis and the Griffon String Quartet may be announced during the concert. The program will include an intermission.

More than a concert series, “Under the Harvest Moon” will also launch Midsummer’s Music’s 2026 Griffon String Quartet Scholarship Campaign. The campaign has a goal of raising $25,000 to ensure that every student who wants to study with the Griffon String Quartet has the opportunity to do so.

Community members may recognize the Griffon String Quartet from its annual holiday caroling series at local businesses, free community performances, and educational outreach throughout Northeast Wisconsin. The Scholarship Campaign supports the educational mission at the heart of this work.

With help from generous donors, lesson fees are kept affordable, and need-based scholarships cover 50% of lesson costs for families requiring financial assistance. Contributions to the campaign help ensure that children can access exceptional music education regardless of their families’ financial circumstances
