Egg Harbor, Wis. (August 4, 2021) – Memphis musician, Eric Lewis, returns to Door County Friday, August 20 at 7pm for his first show since December of 2019. Eric Lewis is a multi-instrumentalist who performs and records with some of the top Memphis artists including Tommy Burroughs, Earl the Pearl and legendary Hi Rhythm. Lewis is also well known in Door County for his association with Buckets of Rain – The Songs of Bob Dylan, Northern Sky Theater and local songwriter, Katie Dahl.
In 2003, Eric received the Premier Player Award for Strings by the Memphis Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. And in 2008, was named Best Male Musician in Door County Magazine’s readers poll. In 2017, Eric released 2 new CD’s, his solo effort, “Before The Last Time” and “Solid Ground: The Songs of Fred Alley” with Katie Dahl and Rich Higdon.
Joining Lewis will be special guests, The Griffon String Quartet. One of the most vibrant and engaging quartets of their generation, the Griffon String Quartet—Midsummer’s Music’s resident ensemble—was formed in 2018 to enrich the lives of children and adults throughout northeast Wisconsin through concerts, workshops, and music education outreach. Extraordinary musicians who have performed with orchestras and ensembles around the globe in the finest halls from the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center and Brazil’s Teatro Municipal de São Paulo to Ukraine’s Lviv Philharmonic Hall, and won prestigious music competitions and awards, they are equally dedicated to music education and inspiring the next generation of music lovers.
Each member of the Griffon String Quartet has advanced degrees and significant professional experience, both as educators and performers, and the ensemble has been recognized for “their youthful vigor, which is absolutely infectious!” Lewis says. “This is a dream come true to perform with such a high caliber string quartet for the very first time! I’m still pinching myself.”
Lewis will perform solo and several selections from his upcoming CD project with the quartet on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 7pm. Woodwalk Gallery is located at 6746 County Road G, Egg Harbor.
