Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Door County

“We’re always searching for ways to better meet the needs of today’s traveler and resident,” says Morgan Rusnak, Destination Door County’s community engagement manager, who is facilitating a program to help businesses add 8 more charging stations this year.
Door County is helping the initiative for clean transportation by offering 15 public places to charge electric vehicles and 20 lodging facilities and campgrounds with plug-ins for their guests. Trips to Door County that fall within 200 miles are now accessible because of convenient hook-ups throughout the county.
How can driving electric make a difference? Did you know, the largest source of climate pollution in the U.S. is not manufacturing, but transportation — according to Earthjustice, a nonprofit environmental law organization.
Emissions are poor for the planet but also for our health, causing asthma, bronchitis, cancer, and premature death. A Duke University study added up the health and environmental costs associated with fossil fuels, finding we need to add another $3.80/gallon of gas ($4.80 diesel) to offset the resulting costs to our society, for both health and climate repair.
