Downsizing and Decluttering

August 26 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

About the program:

Is it time to tackle the stuff?

Whether you’re thinking about downsizing, clearing out a few crowded spaces, or simply wondering what to do with a lifetime of belongings, getting started can be the hardest part.

Join us for a free, engaging AARP presentation that explores why our possessions mean so much to us and offers practical, easy-to-follow ways to sort through the stuff we accumulate over the years.

You’ll learn practical tips to:

  • Decide what to keep, sell, donate or let go
  • Break a big decluttering project into manageable steps
  • Handle family and sentimental items
  • Make decisions about belongings you no longer need
  • Create a home that is easier to manage now and in the future

The presentation uses simple strategies such as the four-pile sorting method—keep, sell, donate and trash—and encourages starting small rather than trying to tackle an entire home at once.
