Experience Ephraim’s Rich History with “Museums After Dark: Candlelight Walking Tours”

August 30, 2024 by Laurel Ciohon

Ephraim, Wis. (August 30, 2024) – Step back in time and experience the enchantment of Ephraim’s storied past with the Ephraim Historical Foundation’s “Museums After Dark” candlelight walking tours. Held on Thursday, October 3rd, Friday, October 4th, Thursday, October 10th, and Friday, October 11th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., these unique tours invite families and visitors of all ages to explore Ephraim’s rich history in a new light—by candlelight.

The evocative evening journey begins at the Anderson Store Museum, where museum docents will guide groups of 15 people through an immersive storytelling experience. As you walk down Moravia Street, you’ll visit the Pioneer Schoolhouse and the Historic Iverson House, uncovering the darker, lesser-known tales of these historic landmarks. From eerie encounters to fascinating historical facts, each stop reveals a new layer of Ephraim’s past.

Tickets are $20 for the general public and $10 for Ephraim Historical Foundation members. Admission to all historic properties and museums are free, and spots for history tram and walking tours can be reserved by visiting www.ephraim.org.

For the most up to date hours and information regarding museums, tours, and programs visit www.ephraim.org. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for behind-the-scenes content and more information about our events.

The Ephraim Historical Foundation’s 2024 museum season is made possible by the generous donations of our members, the dedication of our docents and volunteers, and the continued support of the community and visitors.  Don’t miss this opportunity to witness history and intrigue come alive under the glow of candlelight!

Accessibility Note: This tour involves walking up hills and maintaining a brisk pace. Participants should be comfortable with moderate physical activity. The Iverson House has two step-ups through doorways. The total walking distance between buildings is less than 1/8 mile, with two sloping pathways.
