This enchanting holiday celebration invites the community to step back in time and immerse themselves in the rich history and festive traditions of yesteryears.
Heritage Village at Big Creek, a cherished local gem, will be transformed into a winter wonderland with each building adorned in historically-appropriate holiday decor that captures the spirit of 19th century Christmas. Step into our historic buildings and be transported to a bygone era as you explore the enchanting decorations created by participating nonprofit organizations. This unique competition not only showcases the creativity and artistry of our local nonprofits but also allows visitors to cast their vote for their favorite building through donations. All proceeds from these donations will be generously shared among the participating organizations, promoting a spirit of giving and community support.
Participating organizations and the building they will decorate include: Sturgeon Bay Historical Society (Heritage Chapel), Sunshine Resources (Vignes Schoolhouse), YMCA of Door County (The Greene Store), Operation Not Alone (Schopf House), and Crossroads at Big Creek (Warren House).
As you stroll through the beautifully decorated buildings, the nostalgia of Christmases past will warm your heart. To add to the festive atmosphere, hot chocolate will be available for purchase, providing a comforting treat on those chilly December nights. Additionally, local singing groups will serenade visitors with classic carols, further enhancing the joyful and festive ambiance.
