Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (December 18, 2025) — There is still time to step back in time and enjoy the final weekend of A Glimpse of Christmas Past at Heritage Village, hosted by the Door County Historical Society. The event takes place December 26 and 27 from 3:00–6:00 p.m. and offers a memorable way to wrap up the holiday season.
Seven historic buildings at Heritage Village are decorated for the holidays by local nonprofit organizations. Each display is historically appropriate to the Village’s time period of 1890–1910, giving visitors an authentic look at how the season would have been celebrated more than a century ago.
Admission is free and visitors are invited to “vote” for their favorite building through a donation. Donations may be given to one building or shared among them all. All proceeds are split among the participating nonprofits, so every contribution makes a difference. The more you donate, the more support is shared.
Participating organizations include: Sunshine Resources, Wild Ones of Door County, Wisconsin Humane Society Door County Campus, HELP of Door County, Unity Hospice, and Door County League of Women Voters.
Guests are encouraged to dress warmly, as the historic buildings are not heated. The Greene Store will be open and heated, with hot chocolate, coffee, and Christmas cookies available for purchase throughout the event.
A Glimpse of Christmas Past combines history, community involvement, and generosity, while donations also help the Door County Historical Society continue to grow, preserve local history, and offer educational programming.
