Fish Creek, Wis. (December 9, 2020) — Due to COVID-19 concerns, the Fish Creek Civic Association (FCCA) has made the difficult decision to cancel the annual Fish Creek Winter Festival, planned for February 5-7, 2021. Regretfully, all events associated with the timehonored winter celebration have also been cancelled – including the tent, games, contests, concessions, music, fireworks and the Fruit Loop Run.
Rachel Stollenwerk, Winter Festival cochairperson, states “It’s an “all in” event – everyone and everything involved makes Winterfest what it is. While difficult to make this decision, it gives us time to focus on areas of the festival we have wanted to work on for several years. So have no doubt our minnow racing; chocolate loving; stumpffiddle playing; meat spinning; fruit loop running; toilet tossing friends; Winterfest will be back.”
Despite the cancellation, the FCCA promises an extraordinary bright and merry winter-long season, featuring a self-guided Winter{festive} Tour of Lights. After a successful fundraising campaign this past summer and fall, new monies and volunteer work have been directed towards lighting up Fish Creek, brighter and more beautiful than ever before. It truly takes a village, and the Fish Creek community came together to add over 70 new holiday light decorations this year in addition to previous years’ decorations. A map highlighting extra festive locations and fantastic picture taking spots will be available for visitors to guide themselves through town. A must stop photo-op awaits Winter Festival die hards at Clark Park where the tent is typically located (coming end of December!).
“We are looking forward to having people enjoy the new lights and decorations all winter long,” says Denise Stillman, Board President of the FCCA.
Event organizers look forward to welcoming everyone back for the return of Winterfest in February 2022.
