Fish Creek, Wis. (June 28, 2023) — Fishstock Concert Series has announced the start of its 2023 season with a July 2nd series-opening tribute to the music of John Denver by nationally-known singer/songwriter Will Kruger. Kruger’s musical roots go back to the folk era and his influences are musicians like Peter, Paul & Mary, Simon & Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, and James Taylor.
The 10-concert Fishstock Concert Series includes a wide range of well-known musicians in the folk, Americana, and alternative music genres, said concert promoter Steve Ellmann. “We‘ve got another amazing line-up for our Fishstock dates this year,” said Ellmann, “which are always on Sundays at 7:00 pm. These particular musicians represent some of the best music on the touring music scene, with the heavy emphasis on folk that our patrons have enjoyed for years.”
Reserved seating tickets ($25) are available for advance purchase at Door County Tickets: doorcountytickets.com/organizations/fishstock-music-series. Both reserved and general admission tickets can be purchased on show nights (cash or check only) at the Fishstock ticket booth, which opens at 6:00 pm. General admission tickets are $20.
Besides Will Kruger on July 2, the 2023 Fishstock concert schedule includes Brittany Jean on July 9, Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble on July 16, Stas and Misha on July 23, Handpicked Bluegrass on July 30, Matthew Fowler on August 8, Patty & Craig on August 13, Janet Planet on August 20, Jimmy Davis on August 27, and Eric Lewis & Friends on Sept. 3 (box office opens early on Sept. 3, at 5:00 pm).
To attend a Fishstock concert, drive down County Hwy F east of Fish Creek and close to the intersection with Maple Grove Rd. you’ll notice a big white barn on the south side of the highway covered with colorful letters dubbing it “Fishstock.”
The 100-year-old Fishstock concert barn is one of Door County’s most unique performance locations. What began in 1985 as a venture in employee housing evolved into the site of Sunday night folk, Americana and alternative music concerts. The Series is a combination of some of the area’s best local musicians and bands with visiting favorites. There are ten energized Sunday evenings of great music and fun that starts with Will Kruger on July 2nd.
Fishstock seats 200 in the ground-level indoor area and an additional 200 in the outside seating area. Both concert areas feature independent state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, creating a personal and rustic setting for performers and audiences alike. A digital projection system with a 10 ft. screen relays the stage views to the outdoor seating. Prior to each show, acclaimed local guitarist George Sawyn will play in the outside seating area from 5:30–6:45 pm, and tailgating by patrons is encouraged.
