Fish Creek, Wis. (July 30, 2021) — Chicago-based folksinger Heather Styka will appear at the Fishstock Concert Series in Fish Creek on Sunday, August 8th.
Heather Styka dances where others fear to tread, gleefully cutting to the truth with gutsy vulnerability. She combines the lyrical intricacy of folk with a catchy melodic pop sensibility and the grit of classic country in songs that are always smart and disarming. Call it folk, call it Americana, call it alt-country, but Styka’s heartfelt croon draws as much inspiration from classic warblers like Billie Holiday, Patsy Cline and Ella Fitzgerald as it does from more recent vocalists like Shawn Colvin and Eva Cassidy.
The 10-concert Fishstock Series includes a wide range of well-known musicians in the genres of folk, Americans, and alternative music. To attend a Fishstock concert, drive down County Hwy F east of Fish Creek and close to the intersection with Maple Grove Rd. you’ll notice a big white barn on the south side of the highway covered with colorful letters dubbing it “Fishstock.”
