Folk Music Legend Mark Dvorak to Perform at Fishstock Concert Series on August 10

August 6, 2025 by Laurel Ciohon

Fish Creek, Wis. (July 6, 2025) – Fishstock Concert Series has announced that the 7th concert of its 2025 season will feature an August 10 performance by well-known folk music legend Mark Dvorak, dubbed Chicago’s “official troubador” on WFMT-FM’s Midnight Special show.

Among other accolades, the Chicago Tribune has called Mark Dvorak “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “a living archive of song and style.” Mark has given concerts all over the U.S., Finland, Canada, and Ireland. To date, he has released 20 albums of traditional and original music and has won awards for both children’s music and journalism. Mark has been honored with an award from Folk Alliance International and has received the Woodstock Folk Festival lifetime achievement Award.

The 10-concert Fishstock Concert Series focuses on offering the best live music in several varieties of acoustic genres, said concert promoter Steve Ellmann. “For example, our August 10 show by Mark Dvorak is a must-see for all folk music lovers,” said Ellmann. “His songbook covers the entire American heartland and each of his shows is beautifully wrought and engaging.”

Reserved seating tickets ($25) are available for advance purchase at Door County Tickets: doorcountytickets.com/organizations/fishstock-music-series. Both reserved and general admission tickets can be purchased on show nights (cash or check only) at the Fishstock ticket booth, which opens at 6:00 pm. General admission tickets are $20.

To attend a Fishstock concert, drive down County Hwy F, east of Fish Creek and close to the intersection with Maple Grove Rd. You’ll notice a big white barn on the south side of the highway covered with colorful letters dubbing it “Fishstock.”

The 100-year-old Fishstock concert barn is one of Door County’s most unique performance locations. What began in 1985 as a venture in employee housing evolved into the site of Sunday night folk, Americana and alternative music concerts. The Series is a combination of some of the area’s best local musicians and bands with visiting favorites. There are once again ten energized Sunday evenings of great music this season.

Fishstock seats 200 in the ground-level indoor area and an additional 200 in the outside seating area. Both concert areas feature independent state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, creating a personal and rustic setting for performers and audiences alike. A digital projection system with a 10 ft. screen relays stage views to the outdoor seating.

Prior to each show, acclaimed local guitarist George Sawyn will play in Fishstock’s outside seating area from 5:30–6:45 pm — tailgating by patrons is encouraged!
