Write On Offers Unique Opportunity with Visiting Writer
Juddville, Wis. (January 4, 2023) – Write On, Door County offers a free program on writing fiction for high school students on Saturday, January 20, 1 – 3 pm. The session will be led by Write On’s writer-in-residence, novelist Emmett Knowlton. The program will be held at the writing center, 4210 Juddville Road, Fish Creek.
We all have stories to tell yet so many of us fear the blank page. This session will help demystify the “beginning writing” process. Knowlton will guide participants through foundational story texts and work with them to understand what makes a story. Participants will gain a greater understanding of why stories work and will leave with at least one draft of their own story in this writing-intensive session.
Emmett Knowlton is a novelist and short-story writer originally from New Jersey. He has an MFA in creative writing from the University of Montana. A former staffer at HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” Knowlton has also written for the New York Times and Insider. His fiction has appeared in The Masters Review and MAYDAY Magazine, has been nominated for Pushcart Prize, and won first place in the Writer’s Digest Short Short Story Contest. He currently lives in Missoula, Montana, where he is at work on his first novel.
