Have a spooktacular time during the 7th annual Thrills on Third event on Saturday, October 27 in Sturgeon Bay. Spend the day walking the historic Third Avenue and taking part in the numerous Halloween activities. The day begins at 9am. All activities are free to the public.
Head over to the Boys and Girls Club of Door County from 9-11am where kids can paint their very own pumpkin. Kids of all ages are welcome to paint and decorate pumpkins on a first-come, first-served basis. Over one hundred small-medium sized pumpkins will be provided. Pumpkin painting is sponsored by Artists Guild. Participants are encouraged to bring a canned good for donation. The decorated pumpkins will be placed along the parade route until 3pm to take home. Frightening the bejeebies out of you is the Boys and Girls Club of Door County haunted house. Walk through the spine-chilling haunted house from 10am-1pm. Beginning at 11am, the Boys and Girls Club will be grilling and selling hot dogs, hamburgers, lemonade, chips, and popcorn. Don’t forget to stop by the Door County Library any time from 9am-12pm to make slime and learn the science behind it.
Parade participants should gather at Martin Park, 207 S. Third Avenue, at 12:45pm for costume judging. The costume parade is open to kids and families of all ages. Dogs are welcome to participate as well. Floats are not permitted. At 1pm, all participants will march down Third Avenue to Community Foundation Square, at the corner of Third Avenue and Kentucky Street. Musicians and songwriters from the 2018 Dark Songs event in Sturgeon Bay will entertain the parade participants and those watching with their unique, humorous, and original songs. Awards for first, second, and third place best costumes will be awarded by Miss Door County’s Outstanding Teen, Ashley Ellefson. A prize for the best dog costume will also be awarded. After the parade, participants are encouraged to walk along Third Avenue to take part in trick-or-treating at participating businesses until 3pm.
