Giraltar Historical Association Living History Event at Noble Square

May 22, 2026 by Laurel Ciohon

Fish Creek, Wis. (May 22, 2026) – Join us on May 30 at 11:00 am for a day that brings the past to life. Watch Alpaca to Apparel shear alpacas and see spinning demonstrations by The Arachne Spinners Guild of Door County. One Eighty Petals will bring baby Miniature Silky Goats, and Fish Creek Livery Stable will introduce their donkeys. This Living History Event is a wonderful way for families to spend time together. Bring your kids and enjoy these unique activities.

This event is perfect for anyone who loves animals or fiber arts. Ben Kornowski will shear alpacas, giving you a chance to learn about the alpaca industry, fiber arts, and sustainable farming. You can meet the animals and see firsthand how sustainable farming and craftsmanship work. Visitors will learn about alpaca care, the value of their fleece, and how alpaca products are made, showing why traditional skills still matter today.

The Door County Spinners Guild will be in the Gazebo, showing how animal fiber becomes yarn and finished products. You can see traditional spinning wheels, learn terms like combing, crimping, whorl, worsted, and woolen, and find out how animal fur is turned into roving. Enjoy up-close demonstrations of spinning, sock making, and knitting.

Along with the alpacas and spinners, we are excited to welcome guests from 180 Petals and Fish Creek Livery. You will have a rare chance to see young Miniature Silky Goats, sometimes called pasture jewelry, and learn about the animals and flower fields at 180 Petals. Our local donkeys will also be there. It is not often you can see them up close and hear their unique sounds. Did you know donkeys can hear sounds from up to a mile away, and each bray is different? There is so much to discover about these special animals.

Visit downtown Fish Creek on the last Saturday in May and enjoy this fun Living History Event at Noble Square. Provided by Gibraltar Historical Association, helping to preserve our past for future generations.
