Sister Bay, Wis. (December 23, 2025) – The Griffon String Quartet is pleased to announce its 2026 String Retreat, an engaging and inspiring two-day experience for violin, viola, and cello students. This open invitational retreat welcomes school-age musicians of all levels, from beginners to advanced players, offering a unique opportunity to learn, perform, and connect through music.
The retreat will be held at Prince of Peace Church in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:30–8:00 pm, and Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 11:30 am–6:00 pm.
Designed to be both educational and fun, the retreat blends high-quality string instruction with interactive activities that foster musicianship, creativity, and community.
What to Expect:

· String Lessons led by members of the Griffon String Quartet

· Finale Recital for Families on Saturday at 5:00 pm, followed by an Ice Cream Social
Students must bring their own instrument, shoulder rest or cello stop, bow, and rosin. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and lodging.
The registration fee is $40 per student, which includes all instruction, the pizza party, snacks, ice cream social, activities, and a commemorative retreat T-shirt.
The application deadline is January 10, 2026, and space is limited. Registration is completed online at midsummersmusic.com/the-griffon-string-quartet/retreats and includes submission of a medical form and photo release authorization.
Instructors are violinists Roy Meyer and Alex Norris, violist Oryann Tsaig, and cellist Jesse Nummelin.
