Sister Bay, Wis. (February 16, 2026) – The Griffon String Quartet, an affiliate ensemble of Midsummer’s Music, is pleased to announce its Spring Community Concerts, a series of free performances in Door County and Green Bay this March. The concerts will showcase a vibrant program highlighting French Romantic charm and masterworks of the string quartet repertoire.
The program features selections from 10 Miniatures for String Quartet by celebrated French composer Cécile Chaminade, along with her lyrical vocal works arranged for quartet: Ronde d’amour and Ah! Si l’amour prenait les racines.
Rounding out the program are two cornerstone chamber works: String Quartet No. 2 in F Major, Op. 92, by Sergei Prokofiev, noted for its folk-inspired melodies and lively spirit, and String Quartet No. 14 in A-flat Major, Op. 105, by Antonín Dvořák, one of the composer’s final and most warmly expressive chamber compositions.

Midsummer’s Music was co-founded in 1990 by Jim and Jean Berkenstock, long-time Door County summer residents and principal orchestral players with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. What began as two concerts among friends has become one of the Midwest’s most anticipated chamber music series, bringing thousands of chamber music enthusiasts from around the globe to the magical Door County Peninsula.
