Griffon String Quartet Making a Difference for Music Students in NE Wisconsin

January 11, 2021 by Laurel Ciohon

In 2019 and 2020, your generosity supported the Griffon String Quartet’s mission in northeast Wisconsin. Just consider …

  • 95 educational visits with 160 students in Green Bay elementary and middle schools
  • 51 community concerts to 2,402 adults and students
  • 40 private instruction sessions with eight students through the Door County YMCA
  • 25 educational visits with 200+ children at the Boys & Girls Club of Door County
  • 17 private instruction sessions with seven students from the Fine Arts Institute in Green Bay
  • 13 private performances for 520 special needs adults and seniors with dementia
  • 2 educational visits with 200+ teenagers at area high schools
  • 1 group instruction session with 25 students at St. Norbert College

“Ryan (Louie) is a good teacher because he breaks things down into smaller steps. He’s a great cellist, and he has made me a better cellist.” – Elliott

“We’re thrilled that Ryan, along with the Griffon String Quartet, brings world class music education to our small town. He’s not just giving our son an opportunity to learn a string instrument, he’s teaching from the perspective of an extremely talented, well-educated, experienced professional. The Griffon String Quartet is bringing an exceptional opportunity to our community, and we are truly thankful!” –Elliott’s parents, Luke & Rebecca

Midsummer’s Music of Door County, the Fine Arts Institute at East High in Green Bay, and St. Norbert College in De Pere launched a ground-breaking project in 2018 to enhance student learning and academic achievement through increased exposure to—and participation in—music. Now, we need your help!

What do we do?

  • School assemblies
  • Master classes
  • Instrument petting zoos
