Sister Bay, Wis. (October 9, 2025) – The Griffon String Quartet, an affiliate of Midsummer’s Music, was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Kopseker Trust Grant Team of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation in recognition of its impactful work bringing live chamber music to senior communities throughout northeast Wisconsin.
The grant supports the Quartet’s B Double Sharp programming, which provides free, high-quality musical experiences to older adults in assisted living facilities, memory care units, and community centers, among others. These performances not only offer cultural enrichment but also foster emotional connection, joy, and well-being among seniors who may face isolation.
“We are deeply grateful to the Kopseker Trust and the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation for their belief in our mission,” said Midsummer’s Music Executive Director Allyson Fleck. “Music has the power to uplift and unite, and this support enables us to continue sharing that gift with some of the most deserving members of our community.”
The Griffon String Quartet has been recognized for its dedication to community engagement and education, performing throughout Door and Brown counties. Through outreach, school programs, and accessible concerts, the ensemble strives to make classical music available to all.

Midsummer’s Music was co-founded in 1990 by Jim and Jean Berkenstock, long-time Door County summer residents and principal orchestral players with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. What began as two concerts among friends has become one of the Midwest’s most anticipated chamber music series, bringing thousands of chamber music enthusiasts from around the globe to the magical Door County Peninsula.
