Fish Creek, Wis. (July 28, 2023) – Hand-Picked Bluegrass from Tomahawk, Wisconsin will appear at the Fishstock Concert Series in Fish Creek on Sunday, July 30.
Hand-Picked Bluegrass is a high energy band playing contemporary and traditional bluegrass. Besides top-notch instrumental work, the band prides itself on tight vocal harmonies spearheaded by lead vocalist Sue Cronick. A recent project, ‘Moonshine Lonesome Man,’ features 10 original tunes and the band has won numerous awards, having appeared in multiple prestigious festivals throughout the US. As concert promoter Steve Ellmann notes, “You’ll leave this show with a smile on your face and a bounce in your step.”
All Fishstock shows are on Sunday and begin at 7:00 pm. The box office opens at 6:00 pm and reserved seating tickets are on sale now at doorcountytickets.com. To attend a Fishstock concert, drive down County Hwy F east of Fish Creek and close to the intersection with Maple Grove Rd. you’ll see a big white barn on the south side of the highway covered with colorful letters dubbing it “Fishstock.” Fishstock concert tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 general admission or $25 reserved seating. The 100-year-old Fishstock concert barn is one of Door County’s most unique performance locations. What began in 1985 as a venture in employee housing evolved into the site of Sunday night folk, Americana and alternative music concerts. The Series is a combination of some of the area’s best local musicians and bands with visiting favorites, there are ten energized Sunday evenings of great music and fun.
Fishstock seats 200 in the ground-level indoor area and an additional 200 in the outside seating area. Both concert areas feature independent state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, creating a personal and rustic setting for performers and audiences alike. A digital projection system with a 10 ft. screen relays the stage views to the outdoor seating. Prior to each show, acclaimed local guitarist George Sawyn will play in the outside seating area from 5:30–6:45 pm, and tailgating by patrons is encouraged.
