Sturgeon Bay is the first community in Door County to kick off the 2019 fall spirit in style. Start the autumn festivities on Friday, September 20 in downtown Sturgeon Bay at the 2nd annual Classic Car Parade sponsored by Old Bolts Car Club. The parade will start at Tractor Supply on Egg Harbor Rd. at 6pm and end at the Lodge at Leathem Smith. The official parade route through Sturgeon Bay can be found at http://sturgeonbay.net/. At dusk, the City of Sturgeon Bay and SBVC will be showing Disney’s Hocus Pocus at Martin Park, sponsored by Tadych’s Econo Foods. There will be beverages for all ages, Door County Kettle Corn, and s’mores provided by Bayshore Outfitters!
Harvest Fest kicks off the next morning at 9am on Third Avenue. A wide variety of artisans, crafters and local businesses will fill Third Avenue for a unique shopping experience. In-store specials, live music and a plethora of food and drinks will be offered as well. Cedar Crossing will have a festive beer garden with food, beer, and other beverages for the entire family to enjoy!
Milwaukee band, Hot Off the Grill, will entertain the crowd from 11am to 4pm on Third Ave. near Third Avenue Playhouse. Sing, dance and eat as you enjoy the sound of the classic rock & country band.
Starting at noon, Starboard Brewing Company will hold their annual Firkin Tapping. Follow the golden keg and Hot Off the Grill as they sing ‘Roll Out the Barrel’ and watch Mayor Ward tap the Firkin! After the Firkin is tapped, Starboard will hold a Pin Parade where they will tap additional Firkins for visitors to sip and enjoy. At 1pm the fun continues with the Starboard Stein-Holding contest. For $20 you can compete and take home a commemorative glass stein!
Further down Third Ave. the fun continues! Three professional chalk artists, Shelly Heath, John Soukup and Kimberly Wood, will be creating 3-dimensional chalk masterpieces on the pavement. The artists will be located on Nebraska St. in front of the Door County Library and on Third Ave. in front of Door County Hardware. People of all ages are invited to participate in Chalk the Bay Community Contest. Children and adults are encouraged to sign up for the contest and draw on the sidewalk for a chance to win awards and prizes. Chalking begins at 9am and ends at 1pm. The Old Bolts Car Club will host the Annual Classic Car Show along Third Ave., between Michigan St. and Quincy St. from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m., with the awards ceremony starting at 3pm. Look and learn more about the hundreds of classic cars that will be flooding the streets. Proceeds from the show benefit Boys & Girls Club of Door County, Door CANcer, and Adopt-a-Soldier. As Harvest Fest winds down, the 19th Annual CHAIRries Street Art Auction begins at Martin Park (207 S. Third Ave.) at 5pm. Bidding registration for the Street Art Auction begins at 4pm under the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center auction registration tent in Martin Park. This year’s auction, presented by Associated Bank, features twenty-five unique chairs that have blossomed along Sturgeon Bay streets since mid-May. All chairs will be up for auction and on display in Martin Park beginning Friday, September 13. There will be beer, wine and food from The Dog House available.
