Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (June 8, 2023) – You are cordially invited to join the Heritage Alliance of Door County to kick-off the 2nd Annual History Days Celebration at the Miller Art Museum on Mon., June 19 at 11:00 am. Bring the family and explore the ‘Untold Stories’ of Door County!
Enjoy a hands-on experience of historical artifacts, explore special offerings happening all over the county during the week of History Days, and enjoy refreshments from Scaturo’s Baking Co. & Cafe and Pinky Promise Coffee.
Mike Gallagher, U.S. Congressman from the 8th district of Wisconsin; Julie Gilbert, CEO of Destination Door County; André Jacques, Member of the Wisconsin State Senate from the 1st district; Joel Kitchens, Member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from the 1st district; Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, Executive Director of the Miller Art Museum; Christian Overland, Ruth & Hartley Barker Director and CEO of the Wisconsin Historical Society; and Brennan Christianson, Chair of the Heritage Alliance of Door County, will all be in attendance to provide remarks on the importance of exploring the ‘Untold Stories’ of our local, regional, and larger communities.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the 15+ Door County historical and cultural organizations whose upcoming History Days events celebrate the Peninsula’s rich and unique history. History Days’ 2023 special guest is Randy Zahn, descendant of Albert Zahn, the famed “primitive artist” of Bird’s Park in Baileys Harbor. This event is free and open to the public.

The Kick-Off Event ends at 12:30 pm. Afterwards, feel free to hang out to explore two new exhibitions now on display at the Miller Art Museum: Expanding Perspectives by Mauree Childress (contemporary) and Door County through the Eyes of Joseph Friebert & Betsy Ritz Friebert (works from the 1930s-1960s).
