Ephraim, Wis. (August 17, 2026) –The Ephraim Historical Foundation invites the community to its August History Speaks program on Tuesday, August 18, at 6:00 p.m. at Ephraim Village Hall, featuring Wisconsin State Historian Emeritus Michael Stevens.
Stevens will present a fascinating look at the experiences of Wisconsin’s early pioneer settlers, drawing from his most recent book, The Making of Pioneer Wisconsin: Voices of Early Settlers, published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.
Rather than focusing solely on dates and major historical events, Stevens’ presentation explores the stories and voices of the people who settled Wisconsin in its early years. Through firsthand accounts and historical records, he brings to life the challenges, opportunities, and everyday experiences that shaped the state’s earliest communities.
As Wisconsin State Historian Emeritus, Stevens has spent decades researching and sharing the stories of Wisconsin’s past. His extensive knowledge of the state’s history offers audiences a unique opportunity to better understand the people and experiences behind the making of early Wisconsin.
The August program is part of the Ephraim Historical Foundation’s History Speaks lecture series, which brings historians, authors, and knowledgeable speakers to Ephraim to explore the people, places, and stories that have shaped our region and state.
History Speaks is brought to you by Cyndy Stiehl, George & Beth Drost, Barbara Gould, and Thor & Darlene Jondahl (In Loving Memory of Hans & Ella Habbestad).
