Express your creativity in a unique medium – ice! Challenge yourself during Destination Sturgeon Bay’s Fire and Ice event on Saturday, February 15 and carve an ice sculpture. Destination Sturgeon Bay is seeking beginner, intermediate and advanced ice carvers for the 2020 ice carving competition from 9am-2pm.
Individuals and teams of all ages are encouraged to participate- no matter the skill level. Ice carvers will compete for cash prizes ranging from $10 to $150. Participating carvers will receive a goodie bag filled with an assortment of items to utilize throughout the day. Carvers may begin carving at 9am in various locations throughout Sturgeon Bay. A panel of volunteers will judge all ice carvings beginning at 2pm. The awards ceremony begins at 3pm in the Destination Sturgeon Bay Welcome Center, 36 S. 3rd Ave. Places first through third in each carving level will receive cash prizes and ribbons during the awards ceremony.
There is no cost to participate and carving experience is not necessary for beginner level. All carving levels may use power tools. Basic power tools, such as hair dryers, heat guns, or drills may be used. Anyone under 18 years must have parental supervision. Hand carving tools are available for use from Destination Sturgeon Bay for a $10 refundable deposit.
