Ellison Bay, Wisconsin (June 28, 2025) — Island Orchard Cider, a hard cider and cider vinegar company based in northern Door County, is proud to announce that its Hopped Brut Apple Cider has won Best-in-Class – Gold in the Hopped Cider Category at the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAP).
GLINTCAP is the world’s largest international hard cider competition. In 2025, there were over 800 commercial entries competing for top awards. According to GLINTCAP, “The Best-in-Class awards recognize the highest-scoring entries in each style category. Earning this honor reflects technical mastery, expressive character, and stylistic clarity.”
The Best-in-Class – Gold winning Hopped Brut Apple Cider is produced from a blend of apples grown in the cidery’s Washington Island orchard. The fresh-pressed apple juice is fermented and cold hopped with Cascade and Citra hops, which impart citrusy flavor to the semi-dry and effervescent cider.
In addition to Hopped Brut’s first-place win, Island Orchard Cider garnered a total of eight other awards throughout the 2025 award season.
