Fish Creek, Wis. (August 17, 2023) – Singer-songwriters Janet Planet will appear at the Fishstock Concert Series in Fish Creek on Sunday, August 20.
The blend of Janet’s voice with her band creates a wonderful version of jazz and standards. “Janet is such an exemplary vocal artiste that anything she graces with her vocal chords benefits,” said concert promoter Steve Ellmann. “She can sing sweet and pretty — but she can also come on strong with a big voice that never wavers out of control.” Janet Planet is a six-time WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Show winner and was inducted into the WAMI hall of fame in 2014. Her international performances include; Japan, Europe, South Africa and Russia, and in 2017 she was nominated for a Grammy. Janet is a performer, producer, teacher, recording artist, voiceover talent and is on Lawrence University’s jazz faculty.
All Fishstock shows are on Sunday and begin at 7:00 pm. The box office opens at 6:00 pm and reserved seating tickets are on sale now at doorcountytickets.com. To attend a Fishstock concert, drive down County Hwy F east of Fish Creek and close to the intersection with Maple Grove Rd. you’ll see a big white barn on the south side of the highway covered with colorful letters dubbing it “Fishstock.” Fishstock concert tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 general admission or $25 reserved seating. The 100-year-old Fishstock concert barn is one of Door County’s most unique performance locations. What began in 1985 as a venture in employee housing evolved into the site of Sunday night folk, Americana and alternative music concerts. The Series is a combination of some of the area’s best local musicians and bands with visiting favorites, there are ten energized Sunday evenings of great music and fun.
Fishstock seats 200 in the ground-level indoor area and an additional 200 in the outside seating area. Both concert areas feature independent state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, creating a personal and rustic setting for performers and audiences alike. A digital projection system with a 10 ft. screen relays the stage views to the outdoor seating. Prior to each show, acclaimed local guitarist George Sawyn will play in the outside seating area from 5:30–6:45 pm, and tailgating by patrons is encouraged.
