Fish Creek, Wis. (February 9, 2023) – On Thursday, February 16, at 7:00 p.m., Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will host Jazz at Lincoln Center as they present “Songs We Love.” A student matinee will also take place earlier in the day.
Songs We Love (presented via the touring initiative Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents) is a journey through the vibrant early years of jazz song. Under the musical direction of Riley Mulherkar, three guest vocalists will join a first-rate band made up of New York’s rising stars. Combining their distinct talents, the group will sing their way through four decades of music, beginning with the early blues and jazz of the 1920s and ending in the early 1950s. This compelling ensemble will explore the songs of Ma Rainey, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, and more.
NYS Music calls this performance “great jazz . . . a young, dynamic vibe that you won’t want to miss.”
“Songs We Love” is part of DCA’s Passport Program Series, which presents unique cultural and educational experiences, bringing the world to Door County students and families.
The Passport Program Series is presented in partnership with Friends of Gibraltar and sponsored by Presenting Sponsor Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik; Major Sponsors The Dörr Hotel, Main Street Market, Peninsula Pulse, Dale & Margaret West; and Partners Alexander’s Restaurant, Grasse’s Grill, WPR, Wood Rabbit Acupuncture, and Zero Sum.
“Songs We Love” will take place at DCA at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16. Tickets for the evening concert range from $28 to $48.
