Robin and Jenny Bienemann are both singer-songwriters and instrumentalists. Jeanne Kuhns’ Concert Series at Margaret Lockwood Gallery welcomes the Bienemann’s on March 21 in a show highlighting their solo songs and duo arrangements.
By turns hilarious and heartfelt, this cutting-edge acoustic duo melds original and traditional music with an elegant hint of jazz. Robin’s wild guitar stylings harken back to the earliest forms of jazz, blues and country guitar. Jenny’s voice and guitar playing evokes comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Ricki Lee Jones. Both write songs that are celebrations of modern life in all of its wonderful, strange and hilarious beauty, garnering airplay on National Public Radio, Dr. Demento, and The Midnight Special.
In addition Jenny has published “Haiku Milieu,” a book of her daily haiku writing and photos. Several concert events of haiku inspired songwriting collaborations with many Midwest songwriters has emerged. Jenny also teaches and coaches songwriting at Old Town School Old folk Music.
Robin was a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Festival songwriting competition 2017.
Haling from Chicago with a Door County residence, Jenny and Robin Bienemann are well known for their longstanding musical participation in Door County. Don’t miss the delightful Bienemanns, whose music will lift up your heart and put a smile on your face. Jeanne Kuhns will open the show.
