Fish Creek, Wis. (September 6, 2022) – On Sunday, September 25, Katie Dahl will launch a Kickstarter fundraising campaign for her new album, Seven Stones, with a special concert, Q&A session, and (optional) post-show Packer party at Northern Sky’s Gould Theater in Fish Creek. The concert will begin at 1 p.m. and will feature special guests Rich Higdon and James Kaplan.
A nationally touring folk songwriter based year-round in Door County, Katie Dahl recorded Seven Stones in the San Francisco Bay Area with Julie Wolf (known for her work with Ani DiFranco, Indigo Girls, and Carly Simon) at the helm as producer. The album features eleven new songs. Dahl says, “These songs are the most vulnerable I’ve ever written—I am scared and thrilled at the prospect of the world hearing them.”
In addition to production by Wolf, Seven Stones features an all-star folk/acoustic lineup, including backing vocals from the likes of Peter Mulvey, Kris Delmhorst, and Eliza Gilkyson. All told, Dahl expects recording and promotional costs to reach over $45,000 and is hoping to raise at least $40,000 of that amount via the well-known crowdfunding website Kickstarter. The Kickstarter campaign for Seven Stones will run from September 25 to October 25 and will compensate donors with a variety of rewards, ranging from copies of the new album to private house concerts. Dahl has successfully funded three albums via Kickstarter before, most recently 2019’s Wildwood.
“We did a kickoff concert for the Wildwood Kickstarter,” Dahl says, “and it turned out to be a really fun way to let people hear the new songs and introduce them to the different rewards they can get for donating. Northern Sky’s Gould Theater is so gorgeous, and I think it’ll be a great place for this year’s concert. Plus, anyone who wants to stay after the show will get to see me cheer for the Packers, which is probably worth the price of admission in itself.”
The launch concert, which will begin at 1 p.m., will feature appearances by special guests James Kaplan and Rich Higdon, as well as a Q&A portion in which Dahl will answer questions about her new album and the recording process. After the concert, attendees are welcome to join Dahl, a rabid Packer fan, for a Packer-watching party in the Gould lobby. Beer will be available for purchase, and Dahl will treat her guests to her famous salty chocolate chip cookies.
Virtual tickets are also available for the show’s livestream.
The Gould Theater is located at 9058 County Road A, Fish Creek. Tickets are available at www.katiedahlmusic.com.
