Fish Creek, Wis. (April 30, 2025) – Popular Door County musician Katie Dahl will be joined by acclaimed Canadian songwriter Scott Cook for a concert of original songs at Kick Ash Coffee in Ellison Bay on Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at katiedahlmusic.com; any remaining tickets will be sold for $20 at the door if available.
Katie Dahl and Scott Cook are both songwriters with loyal fan bases and multiple accolades to their credit. Though they normally perform individually, at Kick Ash they will also share songs in an intimate “song swap” format, commenting on and adding texture to one another’s work.
Nationally touring songwriter Katie Dahl “combines old-fashioned populism, an abiding love of the land and wickedly smart love songs, all delivered in a rich and expressive alto” (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel). Known for the intelligence and vulnerability of her songs and the easy humor of her live performances, Katie also has five studio albums and two original musical plays, Victory Farm and The Fisherman’s Daughters, to her credit. Wisconsin Public Radio calls Katie “the real deal.” “In unsettled times,” says Peter Mulvey, “Katie Dahl brings us a grounded spirit.”
Albertan songwriter Scott Cook has made his living as a troubadour since 2007, touring almost incessantly across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere, averaging 150 shows a year, and releasing seven albums of plainspoken, keenly observant verse along the way. His latest collection, Tangle of Souls, spent two weeks at #1 on Alberta’s province-wide community radio network CKUA and earned Scott his third Canadian Folk Music Award nomination. Its second single “Say Can You See” was the second most-played song of 2020 on Folk Alliance International’s folk radio charts, and took top honors for the folk category in both the 2020 UK Songwriting Competition and the 2020 Great American Song Contest.
Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Kress Pavilion is located at 12001 Mink River Road, Ellison Bay. Wine and dessert will be available for purchase.
