Katie Dahl’s success on folk radio has continued into 2020, with February marking the Door County-based songwriter’s fifth consecutive month in the upper rankings of the international folk radio chart. After debuting at #7 in September, Dahl’s latest album, “Wildwood,” has stayed on the charts ever since, attracting radio spins on stations across the U.S., as well as in Canada, England, and Scotland.
On the heels of her radio success, Dahl will set off on tours to Europe and New England before returning to Door County for a busy schedule of summer and fall performances. Dahl’s tour of Europe, which includes dates in Germany and the Netherlands, will mark her first major international tour.
“Wildwood,” which was recorded in Nashville and produced by JT Nero from JT and the Clouds/Birds of Chicago, has received critical acclaim in addition to its radio success. American Songwriter Magazine recently reviewed the album, writing“Katie Dahl’s fifth studio album, Wildwood, is the Wisconsin singer-songwriter’s most stirring collection to date. It’s also a deeply felt homage to the county Dahl’s family has called home for seven generations…. Wildwood’s 11 songs are about family and friends, land and love, history and highways. She delivers razor-sharp lyrics with a hearty, soulful voice.”
Dahl’s next performance in Door County is a joint performance by Dahl, Jenny Bienemann, Jess Holland, and Jeanne Kuhns at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay on February 29.
“Wildwood” is available for sale at Northern Sky Theater, Webber Chiropractic, and Base Camp Coffee Shop, as well as on Dahl’s website, www.katiedahlmusic.com, and on iTunes.
