Egg Harbor’s Public Arts Initiative Opens Summer/Fall Show with June 9 Reception
Egg Harbor, Wis. (May 27, 2022) – Women Who Run with Scissors and the Village of Egg Harbor’s Public Arts Initiative have announced “Natural Door,” a fiber art exhibit on display at the Kress Pavilion starting June 1.
“Natural Door” includes 14 pieces inspired by the abundance of natural beauty in Door County. The fiber art that members created had to be: no more than 30 inches wide; be able to be hung on the wall; and be a literal, figurative or abstract interpretation of the natural beauty and environmental wonders of Door County.
The exhibition comes from Women Who Run with Scissors a Green Bay Fiber Art Group founded in 1997. According to the group’s mission statement, “Our interests are in creating original pieces of fiber art and enjoying the thread of weirdness that binds us all together. Those same irreverent qualities that got us into trouble in grade school are now finally working to our advantage as we blend our personal visions with the exploration of contemporary surface design techniques.”
On June 9, the Public Arts Initiative of the Village of Egg Harbor will host an opening reception to celebrate the installation and the Women Who Run with Scissors. Refreshments provided.
