Door County, Wis. (September 28, 2026) – The League of Women Voters of Door County (LWVDC), along with co-host League of Women Voters Wisconsin (LWVWI), is hosting a public forum for the four (4) candidates on the November 3rd ballot for the Wisconsin Legislature: Assembly and Senate. The forum is on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Southern Door School Auditorium.
The LWV forum will give voters a chance to hear directly from all the candidates running for Wisconsin’s District 1 Senate and Assembly seats, both of which include Door County.
The Assembly candidates are Joel Kitchens (R) and Renee Paplham (D).
The Senate candidates are Mark Becker (I) and Nic Cravillion (R).
The public may submit questions at the forum or before the event by emailing them to vsforums@lwvdoorcounty.org by October 11, 2026. Questions will be screened for redundancy and bias. Questions must be relevant to the position of Wisconsin State Legislator and also be addressed to all four candidates.
League Forums are NOT debates. The forum will follow the League’s structured, nonpartisan format. Each candidate will have equal time for opening and closing statements and to respond to questions submitted by members of the public at the event.

The League’s goal is to provide voters with the opportunity to actively engage in the democratic election process by offering direct access to candidates and information before voting. The forum gives each candidate an equal opportunity to present their qualifications, explain their priorities, and address voter concerns in a respectful, balanced setting.
