Make Time for Tea: Tea Thyme in Door County
By Laurel Ciohon
I’m always looking for new and exciting shops to feature in this shopping blog, and I think I found one that will stand out among the rest! Tea Thyme in Door County is a lovely shop located in the Country Walk Shops owned by tea enthusiast Karen McCarthy and Lynn Church. Open since last July 2013, Tea Thyme in Door County is a fabulous addition to Sister Bay’s shopping scene, as well as the only shop of its kind in Door County!
Tea Thyme is well-stocked with various beautiful tea drinking vessels, honey, biscuits, cookies and jams, trays and other serving ware, unique tea making accessories, a great selection of British goods (McCarthy is originally from Reading, just west of London!), tea gifts sets, iced teas, decorative ceramic pieces, as well as – most importantly – a huge array of high-quality loose-leaf teas. There is even a selection of tea samples that Karen and Lynn encourage you to smell and touch to fully experience the teas they offer.
The older I get, the more I’ve come to enjoy and appreciate great tea. I’ve discovered that tea can be used for several medicinal purposes and has a variety of health benefits, including reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, some forms of cancer and blood pressure, can soothe an upset stomach, suppress pain and nausea, lower the risk of stroke and osteoporosis, as well as provide an overall calming effect.
With the hustle and bustle of every day life, why not do your mind, body and soul a favor and treat it to a great cup of tea? Stop by Tea Thyme of Door County, order a cup of tea, sit on their veranda, and enjoy!
Tea Thyme is open 10am-5pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 11am-3pm on Sunday. It is conveniently located at 10566 Country Walk Drive #32 in Sister Bay. Please call 920.854.3737 or visit them online at teathymeindoorcounty.com for more information. ‘Like’ them on Facebook!
