Jacksonport, Wis. (March 8, 2021) – On Saturday March 13 from 11-3pm, Open Door Bird Sanctuary will open to enjoy the first signs of spring outdoors and their inspiring raptor residents. The response the last couple of years has been so good in February, that they decided to offer a second “off-season” day at reduced admission.
Stop in anytime between 11-3 and enjoy the trails for a hike if the snow has completely disappeared. The trails, just about 2 miles between all 3, are all fairly level and traverse various landscapes.
The sanctuary is excited to introduce one of their newest residents, Forest, a Long Eared Owl. He’s quite a cutie! Sightings of Long Eared Owls are few and far between so he is a great addition to their growing family.
Make sure to stop by March 13 for the first opportunities to meet Forest and to enjoy the many resident raptors. There will be beverages and snacks, along with hands on artifacts.
“Many of our visitors ask about the off-season at ODBS, so we are really excited to give everyone this opportunity to come out and enjoy nature, birds and a great bonfire!” said Executive Director Rob Hults.
Admission to the general public is reduced to $3.
