Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (December 19, 2022) – The next presentation of the Door County Medical Center Maritime Speaker Series will be held both in person and online on Thursday, January 5 at 7pm, featuring “The Berylune: Journey of a Door County Boat” presented by Brennan Christianson, Door County Maritime Museum Collections Coordinator and Gills Rock Site Manager.
“The journey of the Berylune grants viewers a look into more than a century of local maritime history,” writes author Brennan Christianson in the Spring 2022 edition of The Beacon, a Door County Maritime Museum publication. Come explore that century of history, from construction on Washington Island to display at the Death’s Door Maritime Museum in Gills Rock, Wisconsin, as we hear the tale of this pleasure craft from Door County Maritime Museum’s own Collections Coordinator and Gills Rock Site Manager.
Brennan Christianson is the Collections Coordinator of the Door County Maritime Museum, as well as the Site Manager of the Death’s Door Maritime Museum. After graduating with his Bachelors from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a Major in History and Minors in Humanities and German, Brennan attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for his Masters in Public History and a certificate in Museum Studies. Brennan has been with the museum since the Spring of 2021.
Each Fall, Winter and Spring, the Door County Maritime Museum hosts experts and interesting characters from around the country for the Maritime Speaker Series (presented in partnership with series sponsor the Door County Medical Center).
The Maritime Speaker Series offers an assortment of monthly programs – from historical topics to current issues affecting the Great Lakes and the economy that relies on them.
The Door County Medical Center Maritime Speaker Series programs are held the first Thursday of each month, October through May, beginning at 7pm, on the second floor of the Museum in Sturgeon Bay, as well as online. There is no cost to attend; we suggest bringing a donation of a non-perishable food item, or if watching online, we ask you to donate to your local food pantry.
