On Saturday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m., singer-songwriter (and Door County native) Matthew Burress will celebrate the official Door County release of his new CD “The Fountain” with an intimate concert in DCA’s cozy Fireside Lobby.
“The Fountain” is the first full-length solo album by the Minneapolis-based folk songwriter Burress, who grew up in Door County. Burress recorded the album at Tangerine Studios in St. Paul with Randon Nelson, who grew up in southern Door County. Like the album, Burress’s appearance at DCA will be stripped down, focused mainly around Burress’s original songs and acoustic guitar, along with a guest appearance by well-known Door County musician Nick Hoover.
Of “The Fountain,” Burress says, “You’ll hear topics spanning from the new age issues of technology and social media addictions, to classic songwriter themes such as unrequited love or the inner monologue that encourages the nomad to finally and firmly plant roots…. Throughout my 20s, it was honest lyrics from a wide range of singer-songwriters that assured me I wasn’t alone in my wandering. It is my hope that ‘The Fountain’ may provide a similar sense of clarity or ease of mind to at the very least a handful of people.”
Tickets for Matthew Burress’s concert are $17.50; advance reservations are recommended. The DCA box office is located at 3926 Highway 42, Fish Creek, and is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m.More information at (920) 868-2728 or www.dcauditorium.org.
