‘Merry-Time Festival of Trees’ Returns to Maritime Museum

October 29, 2018 by Laurel Ciohon

Create a new holiday tradition for your family and friends by visiting the Door County Maritime Museum during the Merry-Time Festival of Trees. Uniquely decorated trees and wreaths donated by businesses and individuals in the community can be found throughout the museum’s galleries. The festival begins on November 10, includes several special events during the month-long extravaganza, and concludes with the “Jingle, Jingle, Mix and Mingle” gala on December 11.

The festival kicks off on Saturday, November 10 at 9:30am with a holiday-themed printmaking workshop taught by Green Bay artist Gena Selby. Class participants will design and carve their own linocut holiday tree to create unique greeting cards. Participants can use a basic tree design or bring their own image or drawing. Cost for the workshop is $45. This class requires registration and participants can sign up at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/holiday-card-workshop-celebrate-with-trees-registration-51291432054 or visit www.DCMM.org for more information.

Children of all ages will delight in visiting Santa aboard the historic tugboat John Purveson Kids Day, Saturday, December 1 from 10:00am-1:00pm. Enjoy activities, crafts, and a museum scavenger hunt at the museum starting at 9:00am. All children accompanied by an adult receive free admission to the museum from November 23 through December 1.

On Tuesday, December 11, the festival culminates with the popular “Jingle, Jingle, Mix and Mingle” gala from 5:30pm-8:30pm. This event includes a raffle where guests can win the trees decorated by local businesses and organizations. Each of these extraordinary trees is adorned with beautiful ornaments and special surprises. Guests will enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments along with a live and silent auction and the tree raffle drawing. Museum guests can begin bidding on the silent auction items and purchasing raffle tickets on Saturday, November 10.

If you are interested in sponsoring and decorating a tree, please contact Carrie Dorski, Community Engagement Manager (cdorski@dcmm.org or 920-743-5958). Sponsors of the Merry-Time Festival of Trees benefit from over 30 days of advertising exposure including a listing on our website, event brochure, and sponsor board. All proceeds raised during the Merry-Time Festival of Trees supports the Museum’s annual operating fund.
