Fish Creek, Wis. (September 20, 2024) – On Sunday, September 29, at 7 p.m., Meshell Ndegeocello will present “No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin” at Door Community Auditorium (DCA).
Grammy-winning artist Meshell Ndegeocello is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer, and musical visionary whose funky and soulful work provides a powerful commentary on race, gender, and LGBTQ+ rights.
No More Water: The Gospel Of James Baldwin celebrates the centennial of the birth of James Baldwin, a prolific writer whose essays, novels, plays, and poetry have assessed and often reproached the human condition. With No More Water, Ndegeocello embarks on a prophetic musical odyssey that transcends boundaries and genres, delving headfirst into race, sexuality, religion, and other recurring themes explored in Baldwin’s canon. Ndegeocello renders an immersive and palpable document that is as sagacious, unabashed, and introspective as Baldwin was in life.
Ndegeocello’s concert is made possible with support from major sponsor The Dörr Hotel, as well as supporting sponsors Beth Healy and Mike Fordney and Bill and Karen Reifsnyder.
The show begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 29. Tickets range from $35-58. Advance tickets are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek.
