Door County, Wis. (July 6, 2026) — Midsummer’s Music continues its 2026 summer concert season with two exceptional chamber music programs this July. Audiences are invited to experience Revolution and Independence, featuring the world premiere of a newly commissioned work celebrating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, followed by The Trumpet Shall Sound, an exciting program highlighting the brilliance and versatility of one of classical music’s most captivating instruments.
Revolution and Independence
July 9–12, 2026
Continuing Midsummer’s Music’s celebration of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, Revolution and Independence explores themes of freedom, resilience, and the enduring spirit of our nation’s founding. At the heart of the program is the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by acclaimed violinist and composer George Meyer, written especially for Midsummer’s Music in honor of the Semiquincentennial. Paired with a thoughtfully curated selection of chamber music, the program offers audiences a moving musical reflection on the ideals that shaped America and continue to inspire today.

The Trumpet Shall Sound
July 15–18, 2026
The following week, Midsummer’s Music welcomes audiences to The Trumpet Shall Sound,
featuring acclaimed trumpet virtuoso Ansel Norris alongside pianist Jeannie Yu and Midsummer’s
Music musicians. While the trumpet is most often associated with orchestras and brass
ensembles, this engaging chamber music program showcases its remarkable versatility,
warmth, and expressive range through colorful works for trumpet, strings, winds, and piano. The
performances include music by celebrated composers, offering audiences an intimate and
unforgettable musical experience.
