Midsummer’s Music Explores Passion, Color, and Imagination in Two New Summer Programs

July 29, 2026 by Laurel Ciohon

Door County, Wis. (July 29, 2026) — Midsummer’s Music continues its acclaimed 2026 concert season with two captivating chamber music programs that showcase the emotional depth, vivid colors, and
expressive power of some of the world’s greatest composers. Beginning July 25, audiences can experience Passionate Perspectives, followed by Composing in Color, opening July 30.

Passionate Perspectives is an unforgettable journey through music that speaks directly to the heart. Featuring works by Czech Romantic composers Zdeněk Fibich and Bedřich Smetana alongside the passionate tangos of Astor Piazzolla, the program explores love, longing, loss, and resilience through three extraordinary piano trios.

The evening opens with Fibich’s dramatic Trio in F Minor, continues with Piazzolla’s beloved The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires—a vibrant musical portrait of the Argentine capital—and concludes with Smetana’s deeply personal Trio in G Minor, one of chamber music’s most moving masterpieces.

Performance Schedule:

Wednesday, July 29 | 7:00 p.m. | Shepherd of the Bay, Ellison Bas

Saturday, July 25 | 7:00 p.m. | St. Luke’s, Sister Bay

Sunday, July 26 | 4:00 p.m. | Kress Pavilion, Egg Harbor

Tuesday, July 28 | 7:00 p.m. | Hope Church, Sturgeon Bay

The season continues with Composing in Color, an enchanting program that explores the shimmering beauty and expressive possibilities of the harp alongside winds and strings. Guest harpist Amanda Beranek joins Midsummer’s Music musicians for four richly textured works by Claude Debussy, Arnold Bax, Florent Schmitt, and Maurice Ravel.

From Debussy’s elegant Danse sacrée et profane to Ravel’s dazzling Introduction and Allegro, audiences will experience music filled with luminous colors, swirling melodies, and breathtaking sonorities that transport listeners to another world.

Performance Schedule:

  • Thursday, July 30 | 7:00 p.m. | Woodwalk Gallery, Egg Harbor
  • Friday, July 31 | 7:00 p.m. | Sister Bay Moravian Church, Sister Bay
  • Saturday, August 1 | 7:00 p.m. | Salon Concert, Sargent Residence, Sister Bay
