Egg Harbor, Wis. (July 22, 2021) – The newest exhibit at Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor features Wisconsin artists Cherie Burbach (whimsical paintings on canvas and objects), Roger Van Boxtel (scrimshaw Door County scenes), Donna Rittorno (fine silver jewelry) and Chicago native, John Borrero (found objects sculptures).
The show, which will take place between August 5–28, is as described – a mix of media, whimsy, and artistic styles. Each artist brings distinct personality to their work and all together an interesting and engaging presentation is created. A reception will take place on August 5 from 3–5:30 with refreshments and snacks.
Take some of John Borrero’s work, which actually almost reflects a real person. By way of the use of vintage photos, some of his sculptures embody a person or a myth or a flight of fancy from the past to the future. He sees himself as a storyteller. He searches for forgotten things: rusty metal, driftwood, objects carried to land by the ocean, old photographs; antique doll parts – items with no purpose. Then a story comes. In his studio, he brings these items together until they take shape either in sculpture or on wood panel.
“I try to take items that can be ugly and flawed and make them beautiful and gain a sense of personality, ” he said. He describes the process as intuitive and guided by his love of history, mythology, religion, and folklore.
You will delight in this most interesting exhibit, starting with a demo by Cherie Burbach from 3pm, on Saturday, August 5. Come and immerse yourself in the diverse creativity.
Woodwalk Gallery is open Monday–Friday from 10–5, Saturday 10–3 and Sunday 10–4.
